Our Finance Manager celebrates 20 years at Digi

23 June 2021

From Creditor Clerk to Finance Manager, we chatted to Mossina Davids about her 20-year milestone at Digi.

What brought you to Digi 20 years ago?

I had recently relocated to Cape Town, having just married, and I started looking for employment. My first two jobs where I had been a temporary employee, indicated what I did not want in a working environment!

I applied for a job at DigiOutsource, then known as ForwardSlash, this very hip company based out in the Atlantic Seaboard.

Tell us about your Digi journey.

I started out as a Creditors Clerk in 2001 in the Finance Department (that role is not even called that anymore!). In 2005 we moved to our new offices in Century City and during 2005/2006, I was able to undertake a 6-week pilgrimage. When I got back, the business had gone through a bit of a shuffle and I found myself in Internal Auditing. Shortly thereafter, I was back in Finance and was promoted to Bookkeeper. It was at this juncture I was encouraged to complete my degree in Financial Management. And so, in 2006 I found myself working an 8am to 4.30pm job and attending evening classes from 5pm to 9.30pm. During this time, I had also moved into a Management Accountant role. I finally qualified in 2011, an achievement I am especially proud of (considering my age!) 😊

This would not have been possible without the support I received from friends and family, and my Digi Family of course.

I moved into my current role as Finance Manager in 2019, and every day is still exciting and unpredictable.

Tell us why, 20 years later, you are still working at Digi.

It is 20 years later and I’m still learning and discovering new things. The business has grown in so many ways and whilst most people think Finance is just counting money, there is so much more I have been exposed to as the business has evolved. I have had the opportunity to learn from some of the greatest minds in the business and also to travel abroad, an experience that has been enriching and such a privilege.

Some of my favorite work perks are free access to the gym, fantastic coffee, delicious and nutritious meals and just an overall vibey setup that we are so fortunate to have.

One of the things that I value most are the relationships that I have built over the years. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the DigiOutsource family.
